Stimulating?

Barack Obama, addressing fellow House Democrats at the start of their weekend retreat in Williamsburg, Va., tonight, insisted that Americans aren't interested in hearing "the same tired arguments and old ideas that helped create this problem...."I welcome this debate, but, come on, we are not going to get relief by turning back to the same policies that, for the last eight years, doubled our national debt, and threw our economy into a tail spin '' Obama said, with a passion unseen in public since the campaign trail. "We can't embrace the same old formula that says only tax cuts will address the problems we face.''Opponents say the plan is not a stimulus bill, it's a spending bill, he said. "What do you think stimulus is?'' Obama said, with visible frustration. "That's the point.''

Now, watching this shameful pack of lies that is passed off by the media as prescient, forward thinking problem solving, I am struck by "The Big O's" smugness in front of an obviously friendly audience of fellow Marxists. I guess he is a proponent of the idea that if you repeat a lie often enough than it must be true.Tight monetary policy has staved off the specter of inflation for the better part of 20 years, yet here he is, promoting an increase in the supply of money that is sure to lead to massive inflation and a devaluation of the dollar.

Of course John McCain, "The Maverick", awoke from his slumber long enough to propose a bill that consisted of more tax cuts and half the total bill. If he would have opposed the first TARP bill, he may have won the election, but alas, the two parties now mainly function as one. He is NO HERO in my eyes, especially since he could have prevented the USURPER from taking office, but instead made a deal with the BIG O in Resolution 511 not discuss each other's Natural Born Citizen problem. Obama responded with this speech pointing the finger at the Republicans for the blah blah policies blah blah of the last 8 years blah blah, reviving his campaign stump and ignoring his party's complicity in the real estate melt down.

Yet very little about the 647 page $900 Billion BOONDOGGLE has anything to do with stimulation. The big winners are the unions to which Obama is beholden. Obama’s background as a union organizer is fostering unhealthy ties to these special interest groups. Unions who organized and contributed to his campaign are raking it back in many times over. Education gets a whopping $66 billion public-employee unions, such as mass transit workers, stand to profit by $6 billion, but these poorly run systems have nothing to do with helping the economy. Also snuck into the bill is $7 billion to modernize federal buildings and facilities and $600 million for the federal government to buy new cars.
And how is giving $150 million to the Smithsonian going to create jobs? There is $1 billion for Amtrak, $50 million goes to the National Endowment for the Arts, $400 million for global warming — and don’t forget the necessity of digital TV conversion. They have included $650 million for more coupons to make sure everyone can see their TV. Watching TV is one of our rights, isn’t it?
A huge portion of the bill — $252 billion — goes to income-transfer payments, such as Medicaid, more unemployment benefits, food stamps and the earned income credit for people who do not pay any income taxes. This money does not fit the definition of a job producer and does not belong in this piece of legislation. It belongs in a welfare bill. Here is a list of items in the bill:

• $2 billion to re-start a near-zero emissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Department of Energy defunded last year because it said the project was inefficient. • $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion. • $1.4 billion for rural waste disposal programs. • $6 billion to turn federal buildings into "green" buildings. • $1.2 billion for "youth activities," including youth summer job programs. • A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion picture film. • $650 million for the digital television converter box coupon program. • $88 million for the Coast Guard to design a new polar icebreaker (arctic ship). • $448 million for constructing the Department of Homeland Security headquarters. • $248 million for furniture at the new Homeland Security headquarters. • $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees. • $400 million for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to screen and prevent sexually transmitted diseases. • $412 million for CDC buildings and property. • $125 million for the Washington sewer system. • $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities. • $75 million for "smoking cessation activities." • $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges. • $75 million for salaries of employees at the FBI. • $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction. • $500 million for flood reduction projects on the Mississippi River. • $10 million to inspect canals in urban areas. • $500 million for state and local fire stations. • $650 million for wildland fire management on forest service lands. • $88 million for renovating the headquarters of the Public Health Service. • $500 million for building and repairing National Institutes of Health facilities in Bethesda, Maryland. • $160 million for "paid volunteers" at the Corporation for National and Community Service. • $5.5 million for "energy efficiency initiatives" at the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration. • $850 million for Amtrak. • $100 million for reducing the hazard of lead-based paint. • $75 million to construct a "security training" facility for State Department Security officers when they can be trained at existing facilities of other agencies. • $110 million to the Farm Service Agency to upgrade computer systems. • $200 million in funding for the lease of alternative energy vehicles for use on military installations.

So the USURPER, THE BIG O, is now using fear of loss like a used car salesman, trying to close the deal on the sale of this albatross of a Leftist wish list. In a radio address Saturday, Obama warned Congress that delay could bring perilous consequences: "If we don't act swiftly and boldly, we could see a much deeper economic downturn that could lead to double-digit unemployment." So here is the "Change". Don't you love the Emperors New Clothes?
